We are the sudden blossoms of the Revolution

PREM | Love: An Occupation unfolds against the backdrop of recent crises in the Twin Cities, from the Uprising following the murder of George Floyd to Operation Metro Surge. Weathering chaos, horror, and exhaustion, we enter the flow of an energetic rhythm that sustains an ever-shifting, ever-responding network of care, spilling over with a deep, collective love. The work explores the internal texture of our experiences in these traumatic times, reaching toward transformation through practices of public love, care, and defiant joy that celebrate people power. PREM is our love letter to the Twin Cities’ history of resolute resistance, penned in Ananya Dance Theatre’s powerful, urgent, and timely contemporary dance form.

Ananya Dance Theatre’s work is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund and generous individual donors.
