The 2026 Summer Intensive will immerse us in the methodology of "Yorchhā Jugaad", the practice of 'hacking' systemic structures to connect to our collective joy and freedom. Yorchhā Jugaad is an intervention in concert dance conventions: it proposes that dancing together, in communal practice, can be a methodology for subverting pervasive narratives of narrow individualism that vitiate the commons of dance with ego. Come, join us!
Yorchhā Jugaad crosses traditions of dhak drumming in Bengal festivals (where rhythmic shifts flow easily from one to another, in energized public gatherings) with the density of club music. In deep collaboration with sound artists, we create a constantly rolling, animating, organizing approach to gathering community, immersing us in an experience of shared rhythm, space, and values. Musicians Tarek Abdelquader (percussion), Toby Ramaswamy (electronic music), and Joe Strachan (keyboards) will collaborate in this new invitation into Yorchhā Jugaad practice.
