Aahvan: Invoking the Cities

“Aahvaan: Invoking the Cities” is a freshly-imagined, multi-disciplinary event — part participatory performance installation and part concert experience. It will invite audiences to reflect on the rich and layered history of our Twin Cities. Abstract images inspired by the sagas of indigenous communities who authentically call Minnesota home, the diversity of people who come to live here and the current chronicles of struggle, love and community will fill the new Concert Hall.

Commissioned specifically for the grand opening of the Ordway’s Concert Hall, the spectacle of “Aahvan: Invoking the Cities” begins when audience members walk in the door and are led on a journey through the lobby to their seats, backed by layers of live and recorded music.
