REST & RESTORE
The Shawngram Institute for Performance & Social Justice offers a free, 30-minute session of BIPOC Rest and Restore, led by founding company member Hui Wilcox . We will begin at 10pm CDT, utilizing Facebook Live. The session will include standing meditation that centers on breath and energy flow, gentle taiji-based movements that help us find balance, and a compassionate body scan that guides us to a place of deep rest. Our goal is to restore heart/mind/spirit/body so that we can sustain our movement in the long run. Our struggle for #BlackLivesMatter and for racial justice calls for the total devotion of our hearts, our minds, our spirits, and our bodies, in community. As we do the hard work of dismantling institutional racism and white supremacy, we also need to build and rebuild communities, and rejuvenate our hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies. Through Wednesday, June 10, 10pm-10:30pm: https://www.facebook.com/ShawngramInstitute/
PREPARING OUR BODIES WITH BREATH
We are in rapid response, resistance, & resilience. This time of grief and change making has pushed our bodies, and especially BIPoC bodies, to every limit. We want to hold space for your breath.
Artist Associate Kealoha Ferreira leads a 20-minute class on Facebook Live everyday at 7am, focusing on breath and gentle activation. A little at a time, let’s find groundedness, align with intention, and insight justice by healing our bodies. Through Sunday, June 7, 7am-7:20am; https://www.facebook.com/ShawngramInstitute/
