Ananya Dance Theatre was initially founded by Artistic Director Ananya Chatterjea in 1996 in New York as Women In Motion . The company moved to its Twin Cities location in 1998 and the Steering Committee initiated the renaming as Ananya Dance Theatre in late 2004.
